The following are the core beliefs of Northside Christian Center based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in the Persons of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Each of these three are One and make up the Godhead. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is the express image of God, the Word made flesh. He is fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life and died on the cross according to New Testament accounts to make atonement for the sins of man. We joyfully proclaim His triumph over sin and death through His bodily resurrection from the dead. Jesus Christ is Lord of All. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead, and was sent as the Promise of the Father on the day of Pentecost to be our Counselor, Teacher and Advocate. Through His indwelling presence in our lives we are empowered to be living witnesses of the Good News of Jesus Christ and to live godly lives. When the Holy Spirit is present in our lives He gives us the character of Jesus Christ (fruit of the Spirit) and the ability to minister and witness to others with His empowerment (gifts of the spirit).
We believe that God has revealed Himself to mankind through General Revelation - Creation and Conscience, and through Special Revelation – The Bible and Jesus Christ, so that no one has an excuse for not believing that there is a God. We believe that the Bible has proven itself to be the inspired Word of God, and stands alone as the single written revelation of who God is and His plan for the redemption of mankind. We also believe that all of the Bible centers around the Lord Jesus Christ and cannot be properly read or understood until it leads to Him.
sin & salvation
We believe in the literal Genesis account of the Fall of our first parents Adam and Eve and that through willful disobedience to God’s direction, they rejected God’s authority and fell from their original state of righteousness and holiness in perfect relationship with Him. Through this first act of disobedience sin entered the world, and death came through sin. But God…because of His great love for humanity and by His grace, had planned from the beginning the solution for man’s sin and separation from Him. We believe that forgiveness, redemption and salvation have been provided for in the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the Cross; and that His bodily resurrection on the third day offers all who believe in Him new and eternal life. Personal forgiveness and salvation come by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and is not earned by good works. If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved!
We believe that there is one true universal Church, made up of genuine believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This one universal church is made up of many local church fellowships – we are just one of those fellowships. We are responsible to uphold the Word of God by living in faithful community with one another while proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world. We are called to exalt God together and enlarge His Kingdom from where we are to wherever He sends us.
